Her Home and Kingdom
Where do they live and what is the geography like?
The land that Nadia calls home is rugged and untamed, where boreal forests rein.Seasons are divided into short, moist, and moderately warm summers and long, cold, and dry winters.Temperatures tend to stay are very low year round. Precipitation is primarily in the form of snow rather than rain. Due to the soil being thin, nutrient-poor, and acidic, they have to trade far and wide to meet demands of the people. Most of the plants in their region are pine trees and the like (Spruce and Fir), due to the colder climate, other plants aren't able to grow in the short summer months.
There are much more fauna that take up home in the pine forests than can be expected at first glance, they include woodpeckers, hawks, moose, bears, weasels, lynx, fox, wolves, deer, hares, chipmunks, shrews, and bats. Though most animals avoid the towns, some of the non-predators like to wander close to the houses on the outer edges of the town.
Every once and a while the winters get so harsh that the predators do get to close and start hunting in town, and due to this the castle does have to take things into their own hands when that happens.
What is the society like there, is there a hierarchy?

And as it is in the castle, the surrounding town, the women hold more power than the men, they're held in higher regard as matriarchs of their families, though they still hold the Queen as their ruler.
